Piers: Helical, Resistance, and Push Piers
Helical piers (a.k.a. screw pile) derive their name from the helix at the leading end of the pier. A helical pier is torqued or "screwed" in the subsurface until required torque pressures are attained. Structural capacity is achieved through the end-bearing and shear resistance of the helix at the tip of the pier. Corrosion protection can be provided with stainless steel material or by grouting methods.

Because of their size and ease of installation, they can be installed in limited access areas. Once in place, they can be mechanically attached to the foundation allowing the operator to support and/or raise the connected foundation.
